We are delighted you want to find out about Tai Calon’s initiative to identify the needs and future opportunities in our priority neighbourhoods.
Tai Calon is a not-for-profit, community mutual organisation and Blaenau Gwent's largest social housing provider with nearly 6,000 homes. Tai Calon has identified several neighbourhoods where we will work with our tenants, residents and other stakeholders to prepare a Community Plan and help create a more vibrant community. Each plan will potentially deliver a series of local sustainable investment and community development improvements.
The purpose of a Community Plan is linked to Tai Calon’s three goals of increasing customer satisfaction with their homes and communities, decarbonisation, and developing new homes. To assist us we are encouraging the community to give us your ideas, share your concerns and feedback on the Community Plans for the future. The plan for your neighbourhood will take several months to prepare. Our hub is the place where you can find out information about how to get involved, what ideas have been suggested, important changes we are planning to make as well as telling us what you think.
To date, Tai Calon has invested over £120 million in their homes to ensure they reached and are maintained to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard. Tai Calon is a major employer in the local area and keeps as much of the money it generates within Blaenau Gwent - creating employment as well as work placements, and, where possible, supporting local suppliers/contractors. Tai Calon also help tenants in many ways - from supporting communities to tackling fuel poverty, offering advice on debt management, and providing training opportunities.
