Why are we doing this?
The Community Plan is a way of involving the community and incorporating your knowledge, expertise and views in the decisions Tai Calon makes about Hilltop.
Communities are at the heart of Tai Calon’s work and as a result, Tai Calon wants the local community to play an active role in shaping the neighbourhoods they live in. We believe that the knowledge, expertise and views of the community are vital to developing neighbourhoods that support everyone living in them.
By sharing your ideas, comments and opinions (on the interactive map, through the survey or asking us questions directly) you can help improve the neighbourhood by enabling more targeted and impactful investment and services for the issues that matter the most to the community.
What stage have we reached?
We are at Stage 2, having spoken to local stakeholders we are now looking to speak with the wider community to hear your ideas for the area and your thoughts on future proposals as well as confirm the priority of the issues identified.
Please use the interactive map, comments forms below and don’t forget to sign up for future updates.
Key stages
- Identifying the key issues and opportunities with the local community and stakeholders
- Community discussions to confirm the priorities and future proposals
- Draft plan – published for community consultation
- Final plan
What type of Plan?
The plan is based on the principles of co-design and encouraging the involvement of residents, community groups and stakeholders from the earliest stage of its development to the delivery stage.
Delivery will be focused on a shared community vision for the neighbourhood supported by shared priorities and outcomes.
The plan is also a collaboration between all stakeholders: residents, community groups and the Council; decision-makers and delivery bodies. The benefit of this approach is a more joined-up and locally responsive plan.
Collaboration between delivery bodies will also play a significant role with any issues or opportunities that are highlighted which Tai Calon cannot directly address. They will be raised with the relevant organisation(s) and Tai Calon will help coordinate the response, in the process ensuring that any actions undertaken involve the community and respect its views on the issue or opportunity.
